flatliners

flatlinersFlatliners (1990) is a vastly underrated movie that stays with you. It features some young stars like Julia Roberts and Keifer Sutherland but the subject matter of life and most of all death steals the show. These young men and women learn valuable lessons as we do as they get the rare opportunity to have near-death experiences, self-induced!

I also love the look and feel of the movie thanks to its director, Joel Schumacher. He’s one of my favorites and always has a beautiful look to his films and strong stories and characters. Take a look at the list of movies he’s done:

  • The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
  • Batman & Robin (1997)
  • A Time to Kill (1996)
  • Batman Forever (1995)
  • The Client (1994)
  • Falling Down (1993)
  • Dying Young (1991)
  • Cousins (1989)
  • St. Elmo’s Fire (1985)
  • One of my favorite scenes involves Keifer learning about the sacred powers of forgiveness. Here’s another good scene where Keifer Sutherland confronts his parents for raising him in such a strange way.

Here’s the entire movie in 12 parts. Best to watch it late at night when you can’t sleep.
