Father’s Day

Posted on June 18, 2001September 26, 2015 By Doriano No Comments on Father’s Day

Father’s Day is always a little sad for me since my dad passed away in 1991. He abandoned us when I was a little Paisano of 3 years of age, so I grew up with much animosity and anger towards him. I never got to make amends with him either. I wanted to make something of myself before confronting him as a man, but he died rather young, before I had the chance to resolve my issues and make peace with him. Such is the cross I must bare. I have since made peace with him in spirit though. I believe he knows how I feel today. I truly wish everyone knew how important it is to love and honor their parents, no matter how much we might disagree on things. Whether they gave birth to you or raised you, they are your parents. Tell them how much you care and love them while you have the chance. The regret of not doing so is an extreme pain that I don’t want you to experience.
