Ernest Borgnine passed away today at the age of 95. He won the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of MARTY in 1955 which won Best Picture. It is one of my favorite movies of all-time with a beautiful script by the legendary Paddy Cheyesky who also won an Oscar. I loved the realistic portrayals of guys hanging out and the pressures from Italian moms and families who make members feel guilty for being single too long.
Here’s a playlist with goodies such as Ernest talking about how he won the role of Marty and how he felt about winning the Oscar and other things like the TV version from 1953 starring Rod Steiger as Marty. Personally, I think Borgnine was perfect for the role.
