I know it’s not the most manly thing to admit in a public forum such as this but I’ve lost my mancard a long time ago. I love “The Bridges of Madison County” and I don’t feel ashamed at all about it. I’m glad it experienced such vast success too.

Here’s my favorite scene where Meryl Streep and Clint see each other for the last time. It’s breathtaking as he stands there in the pouring rain as they stare at each other, knowing it would be the final time. Then her emotional reaction as she drives off with her husband which is heartbreaking. Everything escalates when she grips the door-handle tightly and starts to open the door but ultimately can’t go through with it. Heart wrenching….

Love and obligation and responsibilities. Sometimes they don’t always mean the same thing. She knew the right thing to do was to stay with her husband and raise her children. She put aside her own personal happiness in regards to love and passion to be a wife and mother. Countless people do this every day and it’s an admirable thing they do. Is it the right thing to do? Some would argue otherwise and choose personal love over responsibilities and obligations. What would you do? What have you done?
