There are new apps for Twitter every day but this new one called Shouttr certainly is different. Yes, it’s a Twitter desktop client but with a twist. It doesn’t just display your tweets but it’ll actually read them to you!
One of the nice things is the fact that you can assign different voices for different friends that you follow. Thus, you can hear a male voice for your guy friends and female voice for your lady friends. There are different styles of voices as well such as young, old, and even sexy. Future updates will include celebrity voices.
Now, keep in mind that this is only an Alpha release so it’ll be rough around the edges and you will be some glitches from time to time. The product will only get better with each update.
Final Thoughts:
I’m thinking this could be extremely useful for twitter users that are blind or that have visual difficulties. It obviously wouldn’t work in a crowded office space but there are those that work with headphones or in isolated offices or home offices.
I hope we can actually use our own voices someday but that’s way down the road I’m sure. Also, if we wanted to hear vocal tweets we could always just start using Utterli.
