The thread involving the married man was especially interesting and troubling. It was so real and authentic. As a married man, I cringed whenever he was all alone with the gorgeous Scarlett Johansen.
I also enjoyed the Ben Afleck-Jennifer Anniston relationship as they dealt with the fact that she wants to get married but he doesn’t. You wind up understanding both of their viewpoints. My favorite scene was when she finds him washing dishes at her folks house after they broke up. He’d also gone shopping for groceries for her sick dad while her sisters’ husbands were worthlessly watching the game in the other room. It opened her eyes to what true love was all about…actions. This moment lead to another two wonderful scenes that you can see below in the playlist I created.
The narrator Gigi is so wonderful and likable that you feel for her every time she gets her heart stomped on. Her friendship with Justin Long is special and so funny. I really liked their whole relationship and how it all ends.
The thing I liked most of all was the way everyone and everything interconnected. It was so realistic the way someone loved one person who loved someone else and so on and so on like the song “Love Stinks” by the J. Geils Band.
Here’s a playlist of video from the movie. Loved Drew’s rant about being rejected on so many platforms these days!
The soundtrack is delightful too. Here’s Erin McCarley’s “Love Save the Empty”
