BladeRunner 2049

Posted on October 19, 2017October 4, 2018 By Doriano No Comments on BladeRunner 2049

Blade Runner (1982) is an all-time favorite film for me and so I was super excited to go see the new requel Blade Runner 2049! It’s set 30 years in the future (but filmed 35 years later).

Harrison Ford reprises his iconic role as the original Blade Runner named Rick Deckard.  Ryan Gosling (one of my favorite actors today) plays the new blade runner named K.

I have always been a fan of Ryan Gosling ever since the movie DRIVE. I thought he was fantastic in this movie too. I loved his romantic relationship with his virtual girlfriend JOI.

Here she is much larger than she was most of the time. This time as a giant walking talking virtual ad.

Another favorite actor Jared Leto starred as the evil genius who wants replicants to rule the world and procreate. Always liked Leto in film and music too.

There was so much food for thought in this worthy sequel which did not disappoint. It has done well with critics with almost 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes which is what the original got too.
However, the box office numbers are shockingly low also like the original. I think most of it has to do with the long run time at almost 3 hours! I loved the length but most people have the attention span of gibbons.

I loved seeing some old friends too like Rachael!!! However, it wasn’t the way I hoped it would be though. I won’t spoil it here.

Of course it was great seeing Harrison Ford again as the Blade Runner 35 years later. He was his usual awesome self.

The music soundtrack was also incredible. It was reminiscent of the original’s soundtrack from Vangelis but it was also original in its own right.

The way it ends really set it up for another sequel which I would call RISE OF THE REPLICANTS or just Blade Runner: Revolution.
