There isn’t going to be any official launch date of the semantic web, also known as Web 3.0. There won’t come a day when web 2.0 stops working or gets upgraded to web 3.0 either. As a matter of fact, the evolution of the web continues perpetually and portions of this web 3.0 future have already started appearing on websites. Once the majority of sites and services have embraced the philosophies and technology behind the semantic web, then the term web 3.0 will be used instead of web 2.0.
