I always found the song “Stay” by Shakespeare’s Sister haunting and the video so fascinating as the woman struggles to keep her lover’s mortal coil connected. She literally fights for his life. It does a good job showing the pain and anguish of letting go.
Stay was an international smash hit as he spent an amazing 8 weeks at number one in the UK which is unheard of there. It also spent 6 weeks at the top in Ireland and climbed as high as number 4 here in the states.
Side note, lady death is none other than Siobhan Fahey who was in Bananarama and founded Shakespeare’s Sister in 1988. She was also married to the Eurythmic’s Dave Stewart from 1987 to 1996 and had two children with him.
