I love “Singing in the Rain” (1955) starring Gene Kelly. It’s one of the best movies ever made in my book. Even if you don’t love musicals, I think you’ll enjoy this classic masterpiece. What’s odd is that it didn’t win the Oscar for Best Picture but Kelly’s inferior “An American in Paris” did, almost as a make-up call.
In any event, the scene where Kelly performs in the rain is obviously my favorite part of the movie. I love it when it rains and find myself thinking of this movie and this scene many times. I know this number so well that I would love to perform it someday if it was ever possible. Funny enough, when I went to Disney World there was a Singing in the Rain area in Hollywood town. I was so tempted to make a fool of myself but I was talked out of it by the wife and kids. Oh well.
Here’s the original scene followed by a couple of wonderful modern variations! I really enjoyed the car commercial remix making Gene perform in modern hip hop!
The Usher dance was great too.
Here’s the original scene. It just makes me smile and feel good every time.
