I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend. I know I did, but it always makes me think about the whole purpose behind this holiday. We’re supposed to remember all those men that died while protecting their country and our freedom. While I am against war and violence, I do have a deep respect for all these young men who fought for the USA. I feel such sadness when I think about all the pain that each family of every fallen soldier went thru and still do. I cannot imagine the sorrow they all endure.
There are 52,000 names of lives lost on the Vietnam war memorial alone. World War I and II had even greater losses! I am a firm believer in fighting to protect our country and our freedom, but not in attacking. I believe that most conflicts can be avoided with enough intelligent communication. That’s why I am all for having a woman president.
They have an inherent maternal instinct that would force them to avoid war and death as much as possible, whereas most men are full of hormones and testosterone and let their ego’s get the best of them.
Anyway, I am grateful that we have had such a long streak of peace in our land. It’s been 10 years since the Gulf War, can you believe it? I hope we never see another war again.
Peace be with you, my friends.
