As you might know, Paisano (don’t you think people who refer to themselves in the third person are complete asses?) is a renaissance man who is very cultured and into the arts.
However, I also love sports. I enjoy the thrill of competition and route for the underdogs in most cases. I just wanted to share the Saturday I just had this past weekend. It was one of my best.
I went to the Georgia Tech football game against the Clemson Tigers. They are big time college football rivals and the game turned out to be a classic. I love both teams and was pulling for Clemson to win and they did in Overtime 47-44. It was fun because I wore my Clemson gear and it annoyed tons of people in my section. They all gave me a hard time, but I had the last laugh!
Before the game, I went to see the guys from the local sports radio station who were giving away t-shirts and other things outside the stadium. I got to meet the station manager Steak Shapiro who is also one of their most popular DJ’s. We’ve been communicating thru emails for a while now and they’ve used many of my ideas and suggestions on the air. He thanked me for contributing to the station so much. I then won two great tickets to the Atlanta Thrashers hockey game that same night!
So, right after the football game ended near 7:00 PM, my friend and I rushed straight to the Phillips Arena to catch the hockey game! We had dinner there and enjoyed a great game.
Turned out that they played my all-time favorite team, the New York Islanders, who also won 3-1!
It was a wonderful sports filled day! I wouldn’t want to live all my weekends like this, but every once in awhile, it’s good to be just a normal testosterone filled man enjoying sports. Most of the time, though, I prefer reading and writing. It’s a good balance to have in life.
