Every once in a while, a song and music video comes along and captivates me in a deep and resounding way that changes me. This song, “Free Fall” by Nothing More featuring Chris Doughtry has hit me hard and I feel compelled to share what I think about it.
It was 2 am on Memorial Day night and I woke up for no reason and couldn’t get back to sleep and so I started scrolling social media and stumbled across a short clip of this song and I knew I had to hear the whole thing.
The music video is a like a mini movie about a first responder dealing with grief and loss. It’s something I know all too well so it hit home hard.
The vocals by both lead singers are absolutely incredible. What a brilliant decision to sing this together. The words are just as powerful as the music and the story in the video.
FREEFALL
[Intro]
(I’m in a freefall)
(I’m in a freefall)
I’m in a
[Verse 1]
One step ahead
But I’m still behind
Where I thought I’d be
By this time
It’s hard to please
Much less believe
The screaming voice in my head
[Chorus]
I’m in a freefall
Racing to the ground
I’m scared I’ll lose it all
Is anybody out there
Or am I alone
Reaching out for someone
In a freefall
[Verse 2]
I’ve got a million of reasons to hold on
But I need one to let go
I smile like I’m okay
But I have pain that no one knows
(no one knows)
I think that I’m thinking too much
So I drink ’til I’m drinking too much
I start spinning faster and faster
[Chorus]
I’m in a freefall
Racing to the ground
I’m scared I’ll lose it all
Is anybody out therе
Or am I alone
Reaching out for someonе
In a freefall
[Bridge]
I’m in a freefall
I’m in a freefall
Am I alone
Reaching out for someone in a freefall
I’m in a
Free
Yeah
[Chorus]
I’m in a freefall
Racing to the ground
I’m scared I’ll lose it all
Is anybody out there
Or am I alone
Reaching out for someone
In a freefall
Yeah
