It’s What I do

Posted on April 28, 2002September 27, 2015 By Doriano No Comments on It’s What I do

Here’s an old song that I just heard again and think says it all so well when it comes down to what’s important in life. Sometimes we make our jobs and careers much more important than it should be…….and we neglect those things and people that are the really important parts of life. Our jobs don’t define us. What we “choose” to do is what defines us and determines the kind of life we will have lived.

Please try to hear the song and read the lyrics below. It’s so simple yet so powerful.

It’s What I Do
(Tom Shapiro/Chuck Jones)

I knew a man
He was a real go getter
What he did to climb
The ladder of success
And how far he went
Was how he measured
The worth of his life
And who he was
But that’s all behind me now because

Loving you
It’s what I do
It’s the only thing I’ve found I can put my heart into
It’s who I am
I’m a lucky man
Living the life I choose
Loving you
It’s what I do

I do what I can
To make an honest living
But it’s just a job it’s not
What I am living for
I want to earn
The love you’re giving
That’s all that matters now to me
And no matter what I’ll always be

Loving you
It’s what I do
It’s the only thing I’ve found I can put my heart into
It’s who I am
I’m a lucky man
Living the life I choose
Loving you
It’s what I do
