Blue Murder wasn’t around long but I love their song “Jelly Roll”!  BlueMurder was the brainchild of guitar virtuoso John Sykes. It was a melodic heavy metal band from England, founded by ex-Whitesnake guitarist Sykes. Upon Sykes’ firing from the most successful version of Whitesnake, the former Tygers Of Pan Tang and Thin Lizzy axe-man set out to create a similar sounding bluesy hard rock band. They released two studio albums and one live album before breaking up in 1994.

Here I Go Again

WhiteSnake was one of the biggest big hair bands of the 1980sfor me . “Here I Go Again” was their best work and their biggest hit as it reached number one in the country over 20 years ago in 1987! What people automatically think about when it comes to this song is the beautiful Tawny Kitaen girating across the hood of a sports car in the music video. Granted, I’m not complaining about that visual, not in the least! I just believe the song deserves more respect than that! It is a powerful song in many ways. I love the passion David Coverdale conveys in the song.

The lyrics are very special because it deals with searching for one’s self and the meaning of life itself. We all find ourselves in that position and I think this song will forever be extra meaningful for me because it came along during my soul-searching period. I still get chills whenever I hear this song and stop whatever I’m doing to listen and remember. I also smile knowing how much I’ve learned since those days and how much more I’ve yet to learn.
